The first way of creating a comment is to tell AppleScript that it has reached the end of the line of code This type of comment is called an end-of-line comment To create an end-of-line comment, type two hyphens at the beginning of a comment line; add a space, if you like, to keep your code easy to read For example:

The best aggregation design will focus on the set of queries that are expected to be executed. Analysis Services provides a means of collecting a log of queries that are submitted to the server so that they can be used as input to the usage-based optimizer (UBO). The UBO can be accessed in the same way as the ADW in SSMS or BIDS. The UBO Wizard will pull the information in the query log as input for determining aggregations that will benefit the queries in the log. You can then further filter the query log input by date range, user, or query frequency. You will usually want to save the query log in SQL Server, in which case you can manually prune the log entries to include only the queries you want to optimize, which are usually those of longer duration. Running Profiler to analyze problem queries may reveal that aggregations are not used for a query, even though it seems like they should be. Look for the Get Data From

Aggregation event class to see if the query is leveraging aggregations. If not, you might need to manually design some aggregations to benefit one or more problem queries. Analysis Services 2005 sample applications (http:/ /msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ library/ms160876(SQL.90).aspx) include the Aggregation Manager, which is a sample tool that can be downloaded from CodePlex (http:/ /sqlsrvanalysissrvcs.codeplex. com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx ReleaseId=13572). This tool allows you to view existing aggregations, design aggregations via UBO, and manually designate aggregations. I haven t found this tool to be very user-friendly, but it was invaluable for designing aggregations for Analysis Services 2005 cubes. Another way to review and manually create aggregations is with SQL Server 2008 client tools, shown in figure 4. As previously mentioned, these tools can be used to update information on Analysis Services 2005 and are, in my opinion, more intuitive. Either way, manually creating aggregations should not be necessary in Analysis Services 2008, with its more evolved UBO engine. Note that UBO is part of the Analysis Services engine, so invoking UBO from SQL Server 2008 tools will still invoke the 2005 version of UBO.

You can also use two hyphens to comment out a statement that you don t want AppleScript to execute This is useful when you re experimenting with code and need to be able to prevent a command from running without actually deleting it from your code In the following example, everything after Finder is commented out because you ve told AppleScript that the end of the line occurs there

The high-level approach to designing aggregations has remained the same from the earliest versions of Analysis Services to today. There are slight differences in the recommendations from industry experts, but there remains a common theme:
